Manse fait partie de la relève Made in Revealed Recordings. On avait découvert le suédois de 23 ans il y a un an avec son remix de 3LAU – Escape qui avait particulièrement retenu notre attention. 8 mois plus tard, Revealed sort « Freeze Time », une pure bombe qui atteint le top 10 de Beatport pour sa première release officielle. Alors qu’il vient de sortir son second titre « Rising Sun » en guise de confirmation de son incroyable talent, Manse a accepté de répondre à nos questions au retour d’un show à Ibiza. Voici pour vous, l’interview exclusive de l’une des futures stars de l’EDM.

Comment as-tu débuté dans la musique ?
J’ai commencé en produisant avec des amis pour m’amuser, c’était il y a 7 ou 8 ans au lycée. Un pote faisait du Hip Hop à l’époque et il m’a introduit au monde de la production musicale. Etant une personne très créative, la production musicale a tout de suite été un truc dans lequel je me suis éclaté, et en même temps j’y ai toujours trouvé une source de défis. J’ai toujours aimé ce sentiment lorsque tu finalises une track (même si les gens rigolaient au début, je n’ai jamais lâché). Aujourd’hui, après beaucoup de pratique et plus de 140 tracks, voilà ou j’en suis
La rencontre la plus importante de ta carrière?
Jusqu’ici c’est évidemment celle d’Hardwell. C’est un honneur de faire partie de son label Revealed Recordings et d’être au Line Up des événements qu’il organise comme la Revealed Stage de Tomorrowland ou le Hardwell Carnival de Ushuaia Ibiza par exemple. Je suis bien sur impatient de rencontrer d’autres sources d’inspirations pour ma future carrière.
Parle-nous un peu plus de ta relation avec Hardwell, a-t-il changé ta vie ?
Je lui ai tout simplement envoyé mes démos de l’époque à lui et son équipe. C’est génial de voir quelqu’un d’aussi expérimenté croire en tes sons et ton potentiel. Ça te donne beaucoup de confiance et de motivation pour continuer dans la musique.
“Freeze Time” est jusqu’ici ton plus gros succès. Tu as atteint le top 10 tant convoité du Beatport Main Chart. Quel a été ton sentiment à ce moment-là ?
C’était surréaliste ! De release ta première track originale sur un label aussi reconnu et arriver à la placer aussi haut dans les charts est vraiment quelque chose de fantastique. Ça veut forcément dire que la track le mérite et je remercie vraiment Hardwell d’avoir cru en la track si bien qu’il l’ait premiered lors de son passage à l’émission de Pete Tong sur BBC Radio 1.
Comment vis-tu ton ascension fulgurante et le buzz autour de toi ?
Honnêtement, quand ton nom d’artiste fait le buzz, tu te sens accablé par toute l’attention dont tu fais l’objet. J’essaye malgré tout de répondre à tous les superbes messages que je reçois et j’essaye d’être le plus proche possible de chaque personne sensible à ma musique. Je pense que c’est important de se rappeler d’où on vient et ne pas laisser le buzz/la notoriété nous monter à la tête.
Parle nous de ton tout premier show ? C’était quand ?
Mes premiers shows remontent à mes 18 ans. J’ai eu de superbes dates à Ushuaia, Ibiza et Heineken Music Hall pendant l’ADE mais je ne faisais que les Warm up à l’époque (vous devez commencer par la petite porte). Cependant, le premier vrai show où j’ai pu jouer mes propres tracks en tant que Manse était cette année à Tomorrowland en Belgique. Ca restera un souvenir inoubliable pour moi.
Décris nous un peu ton processus de production ?
J’ai un processus assez stabilisé maintenant, je regarde toujours un superbe film, ce qui boost mes émotions à plusieurs niveaux. J’ai toujours Logic Pro ouvert quand je regarde le film ainsi qu’un clavier MIDI sur le côté, ensuite je commence simplement à jouer quelques mélodies au clavier. Plus tard, je retravaille les mélodies et les développe pour qu’elles deviennent des tracks (Au début, ça peut etre juste une track Deep House, au tempo lent, Chill out ou bien une track progressive house). Aujourd’hui, je peux réaliser mes tracks sans acapella mais il y a encore 1 ou 2 ans, je construisais mes arrangements en m’aidant de vocals connus. De cette manière, vous apprenez plus rapidement à obtenir un arrangement professionnel ainsi qu’un meilleur mix. Ensuite le challenge est de sonner toujours plus professionnel. A la fin, c’est plus une question d’experience et de combien de tracks vous avez créés. Chaque track vous apprend quelque chose.
Quels sont les jeunes artistes qui t’impressionnent le plus ?
En ce moment, ce sont mes amis Volt & State, Tom & Jame, Julian Calor et j’en passe.
Quel est l’avenir de l’EDM ?
L’avenir pour moi c’est de trouver des alternatives à ce qui est tendance aujourd’hui. A la fin, la plupart des musics d’aujourd’hui tente de réinventer la roue à partir de différents genres ou des croisements hybrides. Le défi est de trouver le croisement qui produira le meilleur son. On veut tous, nous producteurs de musique, créer le son le plus frais et innovant tout en cherchant l’adhésion du public. C’est clairement notre défi aujourd’hui à tous. Mais ce qui est génial avec cette passion collective et infinie autour de la musique est qu’on repoussera toujours les limites pré-établies pour atteindre de nouvelles frontières.
Quelles sont les prochaines étapes pour toi ? Parle nousun peu de ton futur ? Des sorties prévues ? Des shows ?
J’ai travaillé chaque jour de 2014 et 2015 sur ma musique. Et j’ai donc BEAUCOUP de tracks à faire découvrir à tous. La fin de 2015 va également être dédié au studio ainsi que 2016… Ce sont principalement des tracks oiriginales mais j’ai aussi quelques collaborations dont je suis très fiers.
Avec quels artistes aimerais-tu collaborer ?
J’adorerais vraiment collaborer avec des artistes comme Hardwell, Axwell, IOngrosso, Eric Prydz, John Dahlbäck, etc…
Quel est ton prochain rêve ?
Mon rêve est d’avoir un jour une track dans les hits du Billboard, à ce niveau tu sais que ta track a quelque chose de vraiment spécial. Ce qui me motive autant dans la production est la passion pour la musique bien sur, mais aussi l’envie de produire une track écoutée et aimée par des millions de personnes et ressentir l’effet que ça fait.
Bonus: Peux-tu révéler quelque chose d’inédit aux lecteurs de Guettapen ?
J’ai déjà été danseur professionnel pour plusieurs Show TV suédois connus et moins connus. Je dansais en l’arrière plan. J’ai fait du théatre également jusqu’à un certain niveau. Mon interêt pour le showbiz a donc été présent depuis mon plus jeune âge.

How did you start making music ?
From the beginning i was producing for fun with friends, this was around 7-8 years back when I was in High School… A friend of mine produced Hip Hop music and he introduced me to the world of music production. I’ve always been a creative person so the music creation was truly something that I got myself satisfied with, but at the same time I saw a lot of challenges. I loved the feeling when a track was done (even though people were laughing at the tracks, I still kept going). And now, after a lot of practice and 140 tracks later, I am where I am
The most important person you met in your carrier?
So far its definitely the man himself, Hardwell. Its an honour to be a part of his label Revealed Recordings and to attend some events Hardwell is hosting like the Revealed stage at Tomorrowland and Hardwell’s Carnival at Ushuiaia Ibiza for example! I am also looking forward to meet other inspirations in the future of my career.
Tell us more about your relation with Hardwell. Did he change your life ?
I basically send him and his team tracks I work on daily… its amazing to have someone that experienced to believe in your sound and image!! Makes you be more confident and motivated to keep making music
‘Freeze Time’ is your biggest success until then. You reach the top 10 on Beatport Main Chart. What was your feeling at this moment ?
It was surreal, to have the first Original release on a such an established label and to come that high in the charts is truly something amazing. That means that the track got the reach it deserved, and I am really thankful to Hardwell for believing in the track so much that he premiered it at BBC1 Radio with Pete Tong.
How did you handle the quick success and the buzz around you ?
You get overwhelmed by all the attention you get, when the buzz around your Artist name is growing. I try to answer all the kind messages I receive and try to be as connected as possible to everyone who likes my music. I think its important to have in mind where you come from and never let the buzz/fame go over your head.
Tell us about your very first show? When was it?
I’ve had gigs since I was 18 years old and had some amazing gigs at Ushuaia, Ibiza & Heineken Music Hall during ADE but those were warm up sets (you have to start at the early slots). But the first show where I could showcase my music and really perform as Manse was this year at Tomorrowland in Belgium that will be a unforgettable memory for me.
Explain a little bit your production process?
When it comes down to the actual process of a track I always watch a beautiful movie, which triggers my emotions in different ways. I always have my Logic Pro open when watching the movie and also the midi piano on the side, and then I just start to play some melodies on the piano. I later develop these melodies into a track (might be a deep house track, a downtempo, chillout track or just an Progressive House track). Nowadays I can build my tracks without an acapella, but for 1-2 years ago I usually built my arrangements in tracks around a famous acapella, that way you learn how to build a track like the professionals do and you also set a higher bar. You get challenged to make something professional. In the end its also about how many tracks you made, you learn new stuff after every track.

At this moment its my good friends Volt & State, Tom & Jame and Julian Calor and more.
What is the future of EDM for you?
The future of EDM for me is that we will look for alternatives for what’s HOT today. In the end most of the music today is all about reinventing the wheel of different genres and do crossovers between different genres. The challenge is to find the right crossover sound. Since we as music producers want to be the ones that create something fresh and new but that people still can relate to. That is obviously a challenge for us music producers. But what’s so amazing with the power of passion and love for music is that it will trigger us to keep looking for that and push for new boundaries.
What’s coming next for you ? Tell us a bit more about your future. Releases are coming ? Dates ?
I’ve been working everyday of 2014 and 2015 on music so far. And I have A LOT of music to show everyone. The rest of 2015 is going to be busy with new music as well as 2016…. Its mainly single tracks but also a few collaborations with some artist that I’m really impressed with!
Which artists would you like to collaborate with?
It would be insane to collaborate with artists like, Hardwell, Axwell, Ingrosso, Eric Prydz, John Dahlbäck and more.
What is your next dream ?
My dream is to have a Billboard hit track, then you know the music is truly something special. What’s striving me to make music is the passion for music, the thought to experience the feeling of having a track of your own to be heard and appreciated by millions of people…

Can you tell us one exclusive thing about yourself?
I actually danced professionally on different Swedish TV show as a background dancer for different famous and less famous acts. At one point I also did some acting in theatre. The interest of the showbiz has always been there for me since a young age.
